As everytime I start with an "All-Zero-Pose". First I'll start doing the handpose for the gun and then I'll save this gun as a smart prop. Normally I also save the handpose then. You never know if you could use it afterwards again.

Now for the gun. I go back to "blacksmith" Questor and find out he does also guns :o). After a little bit of consideration I decide to use the model "Predator 1" (so you have something "real big" in the hand). This gun is already a "smart prop" - but for another figure. Therefore I destroy the "parent" of this prop by using "universe" as parent.

Poseing Props

I set all "rotate-values" (green) to "0" - so I set up a base that leaves the prop in most cases at a usable angle (45°, 90°, 135° or 180°). From now on it is easier to get a fitting angle with the help of the dials.

Finally I found an adequate angle for the gun to the hand. I try to use 90° or 45° angles for this - because of the fact - the weapon is mostly held at that angle.

Pose With Weapon

Now let's grasp the gun. Therefore I move the weapon with the help of the trans-dials.

First of all the ytrans-dial (reference for the rest of the gun is the THENAR (or the heel of the hand) (1). After that the xtrans-dial and/or ztrans-dial. In the image to the left, the x- and ztrans-dials have to be set.

Human Anime Pose Side View

Now I choose the "Comic with lines" view - to have a better view of collisions. Only AFTER I place the weapon as close as possible to the thenar do I start with posing the fingers.

Avoiding collisions by that point is almost impossible because the flesh of the poserhand can't deform like a human hand.
