Seven for one

Free, gestural drawing is tremendous fun because precision takes a back seat, allowing you to concentrate on sensitivity of touch. In this study, ink applied with a Japanese calligraphy brush is used to create a sensuous drawing of the human form. Making several repetitions of the drawing and using a self-critical eye to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each produces the best results. You'll need to work on an easel: the brush should contact the paper head-on - almost impossible to achieve comfortably if you are seated.
